The San Bruno/Sutro Series
Both Sutro Tower and San Bruno mountain hover above San Francisco, ever present, even when obscured by fog. One, a human-made form and the other natural; both facilitate the transmission of radio and television signals. This series investigates the ways in which a city imposes itself upon the landscape. How does the landscape shape the city? How does the city shape the landscape? In the exchange between urban structures and the land that supports them, can balance be achieved?
