Presentation to the Nature Journaling Educators Forum 9/29/21

The fact that nature journalling has become a foundational element of my art and eco literacy curriculum is due in large part to my involvement with the community that has developed around the teaching of John Muir Laws. Ever since I spotted his book Nature Drawing and Journaling in an independent bookstore in SF, JML had been on my radar. The pandemic year led me head-on into his practically daily webinars where I found inspiration, company and a (begrudging) appreciation of Zoom.

When educational technology and media literacy became a part of my graduate studies, research into the ways the JML and his crew connected with their online audience ensued.

Hear how this group, which had never considered offering live content online, developed as a result of the constraints of the pandemic year. Lest you consider the presentation too long or academic, know there is laughter, a few tears, and a sweet birthday surprise at the end!
