This series is inspired by the view from a picnic table, where from a high vantage point, the valley in which my home is located, can be seen.
Direct observations of the site were recorded in small sketches and digital drawings. These were the primary sources for the paintings which were created in the studio between 2020 and 2026. In this process, direct observations were filtered through memories as well as an embodied understanding of the place where I live. The final paintings in series, reflect conceptual changes in perspective, light and atmosphere, rather than specific landmarks and markers.
The title of the series is taken from the inscription on a plaque attached to the table, βFor Gill Honey, She Loved this place.β
